Type BX pressure-energized ring joint gasket, machined from Type 304 stainless steel, dimensioned to API Specification 6A and ASME B16.20 for 4-1/16″ nominal API 6BX flanges rated 10,000, 15,000 and 20,000 psi. One pressure-passage hole equalizes pressure that may be trapped in the ring grooves.

Type BX pressure-energized ring joint gasket, ring number BX-155, machined from Type 304 stainless steel (UNS S30400), solution annealed & quenched. Dimensioned to API Specification 6A (Table D.12 / E.12) and ASME B16.20 for 4-1/16″ nominal API 6BX flanges rated 10,000, 15,000 and 20,000 psi. For API 6BX flanges only.
Key features
- Pressure-energized BX design; only BX gaskets are used with API 6BX flanges
- When correctly fitted, allows face-to-face contact of the flange faces; gasket is trapped on both ID and OD

Taper angle 23° ±¼°. Mating API 6BX groove (reference): depth E 0.33″ (8.33 mm), groove OD G 5.930″ (150.62 mm), groove width N 0.698″ (17.73 mm). Inch and metric values are separate standard values, not exact conversions.
USE: For API 6BX flanges only; do not use BX rings in API 6B (R / RX) grooves. Ring gaskets should be softer than the mating flange groove. TEMPERATURE: API 6A and ASME B16.20 leave material selection for service conditions to the user; confirm suitability of 304 SS for the service temperature and fluid.
